Paul Verdon was in Bourges, France over the weekend, representing Ireland in both Men’s Foil and Men’s Épée at the Cadet World Championships. Verdon, who trains at RBAI and Grosvenor FC, is currently the Irish cadet #1 in both weapons.

In épée, Paul was V3D3 after the pools; he scored victories over Batsuren MGL, Yeo SIN and Chahine LIB. Progressing through the cut, he faced Svensson SWE for a place in the L64, but was knocked out 15-13. Paul placed 82nd of 129 fencers.

Sunday’s foil brought a pool victory over Romero Montilla VEN, ranked in the cadet top 50, and a 5-4 loss to world #17 Varas ARG. Paul did not qualify for the DEs and placed 96th of 110.
