On the 6th of May, the National Sports Campus hosted the Fencing Ireland / DCC City Wide Fencing Championship 2016. This was the fourth competition of its type which consisted of ten teams from across the city representing their schools. Each team had 3-4 weeks training. All the fencers were valiant and it was a brilliant day.
The winners were St. Declan’s College Cabra, beating Our Lady of Mercy Drimnagh by one point.

I would like to leave the last word to Antonia Martin, Senior Sports and Wellbeing Officer with DCC:
“It was great to see the result of your hard work on Friday, particularly in the Pentathlon venue. It was very well organised, very professional and it was great to see the teams working so well together. All participants seemed very well prepped and I was very impressed with the standard and the respect they showed their opponents.”
