The Cadet & Junior World Fencing Championships will take place in Plovdiv, Bulgaria from 1-10 April. The following fencers have been chosen to represent Ireland.

Fencing Ireland is delighted to announce the squad that will be fencing for Ireland at the 5 Nations on 5 November.

Unfortunately we are unable to field a Women’s Sabre team this year.

5 Nations 2016 is hosted by England Fencing, and will take place at Manchester Fencing Centre in Oldham.


European Championships 2016

The senior European Fencing Championships will take place in Torun, Poland from 20-25 June. Athletes have been selected in accordance with the squad selection guidelines previously published. Schedule and further details are available on the event website.

Men’s Foil – David Alexander, Brendan Cusack, Conor Nagle (individual and team)
Men’s Sabre – Aidan Clarke, Michalis Kirimlidis

Stephen Concannon (Men’s Sabre), Victoria Duxbury (Women’s Foil), Geoffrey Corcorcan (Men’s Épée) and Philip Slater (Men’s Épée) also met the standard for qualification but will not be travelling.


Olympic Games – European Zonal Qualifier 2016

The continental qualifier to the Rio Olympics will take place in Prague on Saturday, 16 April. The following athletes have been selected in accordance with the qualification criteria previously published.
