Four juniors competed at the European Championships in Slovenia today, with Geoffrey Corcoran, Philip Slater and Jonathan Burnside competing in Men’s Épée and Victoria Duxbury fencing in Women’s Foil.

In épée, Jonathan Burnside was V1D5 in the pool, beating Pirvuleasa ROU to seed 106th. Geoffrey Corcoran was V1D4 with a victory over Dabija ROU, seeding 93rd. Both were eliminated after the pools.

Philip Slater was V2D4, having defeated Jurka CZE and former cadet world champion Esztergalyos HUN. Slater seeded 84th and progressed to the DEs. He faced Dorigo FRA in the first round, but was knocked out in the L128 and placed 85th overall.

In foil, Victoria Duxbury took pool victories over Atoyan ARM and Boldor ROU and qualified for the tableau as 46th seed. She drew world #28 Behr GER in the L64 and was knocked out 15-9, finishing 47th.
