There were three Irish fencers in attendance at the 4th Leon Paul Foil Open in London.

Men’s Foil

Gerard Lavin (Salle Boston) fenced a V3D3 pool, receiving a bye into the L64 where he was knocked out 15-13 by clubmate Sean Jamshidi. He placed 40th of 73. Patrick Dempsey (Saxon) was overturned as 64th seed by Kenny Jones (Fighting Fit) and placed 66th overall.

Women’s Foil

Going V5D1 in the pool, Keziah Beattie (Grosvenor FC) knocked out Nadya Yordanova (Cyrano) 15-4 in the L32 and fenced Huelwen Hill (Russell Swords) for a place in the quarter-final. Progressing 15-10, she met second seed Claire Daniel (Salle Boston) and was knocked out 15-12 to place 7th of 33.
In the semi-final, Daniel was knocked out by our recent Venetian visitor Lodovica Bicego (Circolo Scherma Mestre) 15-8.
