Five Irish fencers were selected for the Junior World Cup in Men’s Épée at Luxembourg on 19 September.
Philip Slater (Lisburn Gladiators) and Jonathan Burnside (Foyle) progressed to the DE round with 3 and 2 pool victories each. Slater was knocked out 15-12 by McGlade GBR and placed 98th. Burnside met Peck GBR and lost 15-4, finishing 107th.
Arran Hope (King’s School Canterbury) missed the cut despite a pool victory, finishing 142nd. Oliver Hope (King’s School Canterbury) and Tim Andrews (Plymouth) placed 151st and 155th respectively.
