Best of luck to Ido Ajzenstadt (Pembroke FC) who will be Ireland’s first fencer at the Maccabiah Games in recent years. The 2017 Games – the 20th edition of this quadrennial event – is currently underway in Haifa, Israel. Men’s Épée will take place on 10 July.

Despite a pool victory over Koleva BUL, Genevieve Clarke (California Fencing Academy) was the second fencer to miss the cut in Women’s Foil, placing 74th of 91.

Well done to Michalis Kirimlidis (Salle Dublin) who reached the L16 at the Turku sabre satellite this weekend. Fourteen NI fencers took part in the Public Schools' Fencing Championships in London last week, competing across all three weapons. Junior Foil Daniel Sigurdsson (Methodist College Belfast) earned the result of the tournament, taking bronze in a field of 106 in Junior Foil. Frantz Aime (CHC Châtelaine) had a frustrating morning on the Cadet Circuit in Eislingen. Finishing his pool with one victory (Kuhling GER) and two belle-touche defeats (Frohlich HUN, Wagner GER), he missed the cut by 5 places and placed 170th of 213.
