European Veterans Championships 2017 – results

The European Championships for fencers over the age of 40 took place in the Italian town of Chiavari this week. Events were organised in the brackets of 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-74 and 75+. Ireland third at Veteran Four Nations

Fencing Ireland played host to the Veteran Four Nations this weekend. Our over-40s team took to the piste in Dalkey on Saturday.  1st  England  2nd  Scotland  3rd  Ireland  4th  Wales England defended their overall championship, but were denied a grand slam by a strong Scottish Women’s Foil team. Selection beginning for 5 Nations – action required by athletes

Fencers who wish to be considered for Team Ireland must contact the selectors via email to selectors@irishfencing.net by May 15th to register their interest.  As 5 Nations selections are made on the basis of the Irish national rankings at the end of the season (i.e. post-Nationals), the Selectors will soon be naming the panel.
