Today at the Challenge International de Paris, Brendan Cusack (Empire United) was V2D4 after the pool, defeating Ferjani TUN and Lecocq BEL and conceding the bel touche to Chastanet FRA and Braun GER. After passing the cut with a bye into the preliminary L128, he was knocked out 15-11 by Rajski POL and placed 149th of 210 foilists.
The following fencers will travel to Plovdiv, Bulgaria for both the European Championships in March and the World Championships in April. Genevieve Clarke (California Fencing Academy) made an impressive Cadet Circuit debut at Poznan yesterday. Victories over Kuresova CZE, Kulkutina UKR, Sroka POL and Turkiewicz POL saw her through to her first international DE. She was overturned 15-10 by Emilia Corbu of Romania and placed 74th of 158 foilists.
Emma Andrews (Plymouth FC) had a challenging first Cadet Circuit event; with 5-4 defeats to Dekany HUN and Baydar TUR she finished the pool all down and placed 193rd of 206 fencers.
South Dublin’s Pembroke FC continued a winning streak at youth and minor level at the NI Junior Foil Series.
