Having defeated Tosabayashi JPN and Rodda GBR in the pool, Beth Taylor (Lisburn Gladiators) fenced Ozornek TUR for a place in the L64 and went through 15-12. She was knocked out by Canadian number 2 Marina Guintchitskaia and placed 59th overall.

Brendan Cusack (Empire United) seeded third after the pool, where he was undefeated against Arizaga MEX, Rivera GUA, Hidalgo-Monroy MEX, Sanchez Medina COL and Kunz Malagamba MEX. Following a bye into the L32, Cusack was overturned 15-14 by Marroquin MEX and placed 9th of 32.
Our sabreurs were in Ghent, Belgium this weekend for the Flemish Open satellite. Michalis Kirimlidis (Salle Dublin) defeated Saunders GBR, Trochel COL and Hamelmann GER in the pool; both of his losses were 5-4.
